Reminders - Updated October 6th, 2008
Don't forget good shoes!

Kingston weather is fairly unpredictable, so if it's raining before you head out, grab a clean and comfortable pair of shoes to dance in! We want to keep the floor nice and dry for dancing on (after all, isn't that why you're here?).

In general: GOOD = Athletic shoes such as runners, sneakers or tennis shoes; yeah, you can get those fancy dance shoes, too. NOT SO GOOD = Boots, sandals, slippers, soccer cleats, galoshes, heels, bare feet… You get the idea.
Summer Swing - Posted Wednesday June 11th, 2008 [11:52]

It’s that time of year again! The weather is warm, the flowers are in bloom, and Summer Swing Kingston is officially back! Every Sunday evening (weather permitting, see below!) from June 1st until Labour Day, we will be holding free lessons and a social dance according to the following schedule, so come out, bring your friends, and help us enjoy the summer with some awesome lindy hop!

6-7 pm - INTRO TO SWING: Every week we have a beginner-friendly swing dance lesson! Don’t have a partner? Don’t have dance experience? Can’t tell your right foot from your left? Not a problem, as we’ll start with the basics so that you won’t be lost. As well, the lessons are not progressive which means that you can drop in any week! 7-8:30 pm-ish - SOCIAL DANCING: Meet new people, practise the dancing you learned in the lesson, listen to some great music, and enjoy the sunset over the lake!

Admission is FREE! Our venue is the NEWLANDS PAVILION (a.k.a. "the gazebo"), located in Macdonald Park on King St. at Barrie St. (beside Murney Tower). For directions, please see http://queensswingclub.com/about/venues/default.asp#entry_Gazebo

Some things to keep in mind:
* We welcome all members of the Queen's and Kingston community.
** We recommend dressing in layers, as it can get chilly near the water in the evening.
*** If it rains on Sunday after 3:00pm (or looks very likely that it will), we will CANCEL and meet NEXT SUNDAY instead.

QSC 9th Anniversary Dance - Posted Tuesday March 25th, 2008 [01:28]

This Saturday is, I think, a good day for a dance.

Why? well for one, Queen's Swing Club is turning nine years old! We've been putting the "swing" in Kingswington© since 1999, and as we wave goodbye to our ninth year and look forward to our tenth, we need to go out by doing what we do best: dancing. Furthermore, now is also a time for sticking it to endless snow, recurring cold, and slippery sidewalks by dancing a welcome to spring.

To these ends, this Saturday we will be holding our 9th Anniversary Dance, titled "Swing into Spring". Come out and dance to the sounds of one of our favourite bands: Tim's Jive Five. While you're there, you'll get to see the debut performance of this years baby troop: Half Baked. The night will also feature the announcement of next year's executive and maybe some more surprises as well.

It will all be going down at St. James Church this Saturday, and will only cost $10. Doors open for an intro to swing lesson at 8:30, and the band starts at 9:30. The evening will be followed by one of QSC's famous blues parties.

Semi-formal or spring-themed attire is encouraged; have fun with it!
